  17. This is a set of Amigaguide documents containing (approximately):-

  24. There is about 1.24 megabyte of data so a HARD DRIVE will be required.
  25.  
  26. It is aimed at the beginner in ARexx but can also be used by more
  27. experienced programmers as a reference.

  29. The articles and glossary are heavily cross referenced making it easy
  30. to jump from the article to an explanation of terminology or to another
  31. article for further information.

  33. This Aminet release (Demo Version) has a lot of the articles ENCRYPTED.

  46. What "ARexx For Beginners" is NOT:-  (See below for what it IS)

  49. * It is NOT a replacement for the ARexx manual.

  51.   While every ARexx instruction and function is covered,
  52.   "ARexx For Beginners" is not intended to be a full and definitive
  53.   description of the format of all these instructions and
  54.   functions. If you want that sort of thing then read the ARexx manual.

  56. * It is NOT a description of how to use the ARexx commands that
  57.   are available in other programs. The format of those commands
  58.   is not a part of ARexx but a part of those other programs
  59.  
  60.   To try to describe how to use commands available in all the
  61.   programs that use ARexx would be an impossible task. There are
  62.   just too many of them!

  64.   So, if you want to know how to use, say, Directory Opus commands
  65.   for ARexx scripts then you will have to read the Directory Opus
  66.   manual.

  68.   If you already know how to use ARexx itself and want to know how
  69.   to use commands specific to other programs, then "ARexx For
  70.   Beginners" is NOT for you!!

  72. What "ARexx For Beginners" IS:-

  75. What "ARexx For Beginners" DOES attempt to do is to provide the beginner
  76. with an introduction to the use of ARexx by providing information and
  77. examples of the ARexx instructions and functions in a way that takes the
  78. user through various instructions and functions and their main options
  79. without getting too tied up in their format.

  81. In my experience, most beginners cannot quickly understand the formats
  82. given in texts about ARexx. By following through these notes, it is hoped
  83. that the beginner can become familiar with the main options of most
  84. instructions and functions without needing to worry about formats.

  86. So... whereas I may not always give you the FULL story about
  87. an ARexx instruction or function all in the one article I WILL
  88. attempt to cover it all by the time you have read through to the last
  89. article. However, if you want the full story all at once, all you need
  90. to do is double click on the highlighted references to follow through
  91. to later articles and read the whole story.
